The Carwash

Carwash

This week I took my car through the carwash. Good lord it was dirty. There’s been a ton of rain lately and my car was just a mess. I go to this local carwash which sends your car through the wash on a conveyor while you’re riding inside. I’m sure you have seen these type of carwashes. But as I was going through I started thinking how the carwash parallels with life. You go in with a dirty car and come out all shiny and new looking. We go through some stuff. Whether it’s a tough test, a bankruptcy, a divorce, a failed relationship – whatever trial it is, it’s much like going through a carwash. As I started through, the attendant said to put the car in neutral, take your foot off the brakes, and your hands off the wheel. The conveyor would guide my car through. At one point the car shifted a little. The soap on the windshield was thick and cloudy, to the point I couldn’t see anything. And I wanted to reach out and turn the wheel, but I knew the conveyor had it. But isn’t that like life? We want so badly to “grab the wheel” and steer out of the wash. We want to control our situation. We think that if things get cloudy or blurry or tought that we should get out of it. But God has us. He’s guiding us through life to learn and improve and clean. And we come out on the other side all clean and better.

So whatever it is you’re going through, think of the carwash. You’re being guided and it’s part of God’s perfect plan. You’re building and improving and growing. And that’s awesome!!
