Kill It to Grow

Perhaps what we are going through is just what we need to determine the best for our lives. I know what you’re thinking, “Really? How could anything bad be good?” And sometimes I think, “why is this happening to me?” But maybe things that are undesirable in your life are being rooted out or trimmed out on purpose. Just like a weed is pulled from the ground so that good plants can grow – the same holds true in our lives. I had a friend who wanted to improve her lawn because it was overrun with weeds. She said she needed to kill it so that the new grass would grow. So she did just that. She worked and raked and removed all of the old and I’m sure as people drove by her house they commented on what was that crazy woman doing to her yard. I mean it was barren. There was nothing but dirt when she was finished. But after she had put down all new grass, it was perfect.

Isn’t that what we have to do sometimes? Sometimes we have to reset and start over. And the fact we go through “stuff”, shouldn’t prevent us from being the best versions of ourselves possible. In fact, it’s those very things which makes us stronger, which makes us better, and which makes us more beautiful. Just like a lawn full of weeds that’s been rooted out. You have to kill it, before it will grow.

So what are you going to do with the stuff you’re going through? Are you going to allow it to consume you? Or are you going to see it as an opportunity for growth?
